Youth on D Move for Christ
On November 19 & 20, we held an awesome Youth Summit. The Theme was "Pampered Princesses" & "Boyz 2 Men" The Summit was held for ages 1 to 21. It started on Saturday morning at 10 am and ended at 12noon.
The young ladies had their nails polished with colors and designs that were a little too much for me, but they absolutely loved it. They had facials and very light make-up. We pampered them and made them feel like princesses for the day and they were beautiful. They played games, enjoyed food and had a great time fellowshipping with one another. The young men had a X-Box Tournament, please don't ask me what that is because I do not know. I do know that they played against one another until it was down to two players. The winner received a generous gift card to Game Stop and the runner up received a smaller gift card to Wally's World.
The children (boys & girls) played football, some got in the bouncy ball thing, they all had a blast. Then we all met in the main sanctuary and had a wonderful rap session. We talked about things that our young people want to know but are afraid to ask. The young ladies were informed that it is ok to be pretty on the outside, but it is the inside that makes all the difference. To end the day on Saturday, we had drawings and gave away lots of great door prizes that were age appropriate.
Sunday was the wrap up of the Summit. The entire day was dress down for everyone. It is good to just come to church sometimes without the fancy attire especially when you are trying to win young people to the Lord. That evening we concluded with three youth speakers, Wow is all I can say on that. Those children were amazing. They spoke as one that had been with Jesus (LOL). I laugh because many times we don't think they are listening or engaged in the service and many times we are so very wrong.
Then there was a "Fashion Show". It is amazing what our children can and will do if we give them a platform. We had youth in the Fashion Show as young as 4 years old. Omg, they were so adorable and they had the nerve to strut their stuff, with their brims and pinstripes. There were cheers from the crowd as they strutted down the run way, the parents & other family members applauded them as if they had just won a million dollars.
I am totally loving what God is doing in the lives of these awesome young people. Our Youth Sunday is always the 3rd Sunday of each month. In the month of December we will not have a Youth Service at 5pm due to a planning session for 2012. But if God allows we will be back on track in January. So stay tuned to the site to see what will happen next. Always feel free to bring your youth if they are not busy.
The attire for our Youth Services is very casual. Contact us at Chosen2003@yahoo.com if you have youth that would like to participate in the evening service on the third Sunday at 5pm. Pictures of the service coming soon!
